Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber believes that peace and stability in the Middle East can only be brought about with better education, which in turn is a prerequisite for democracy.
UNESCO's pursuit of peace and security based on human rights and fundamental freedoms is firmly in accordance with those beliefs.
In 2003 Mr Al Jaber signed an ambitious protocol with the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura to promote educational and curriculum reform and teacher training in order for students from the region to better compete with their counterparts in the world.
UNESCO Special Envoy
On March 18th, 2005, the Director-General officially named Mr Al Jaber Special Envoy for "education, human rights, tolerance, and cultures to build peace and democracy." MBI Al Jaber will be representing the Director-General in these capacities as UNESCO Special Envoy throughout the world.
