In 2007, MBI Al Jaber predicted financial problems for the Gulf region and spoke out about the hype surrounding the Gulf-wide real estate-fuelled economic boom which created an “illusion of wealth.” In 2005, he had anticipated the subsequent fall of stock markets in the Gulf.
MBI Al Jaber believes in sustainable growth. His business strategy is to move slowly but decisively. As a long-term investor interested in mature markets, he attributes the steady growth of his businesses to this careful planning and his total involvement in all facets of their operations.
Dedication to higher education
Education has always been of the highest importance to MBI Al Jaber and he has continued to pursue his studies throughout his career whilst simultaneously running his multinational businesses. MBI Al Jaber has studied Middle Eastern History and Politics at SOAS, University of London. He has supported various educational initiatives, universities and granted hundreds of scholarships to Arab students of the Middle East to study at elite institutions.
MBI Al Jaber firmly believes that individuals can make a difference and that education is the key to facilitating advancement in the Arab world and elsewhere. In this vision, he recognises that women will play a major part in the future of the region and advocates support for the advancement of women’s education.Bridging the gap
MBI Al Jaber’s belief in building bridges through education between the peoples of the Middle East and the wider world has encouraged him to share his vision of the Arab world with the West through seminars, lectures and conferences focusing on peace, tolerance, governance and sustainable development in the broader Middle East/North Africa. He has led interactive seminars with students and also meets regularly with the policy community in the US, Europe and elsewhere to offer a Middle East perspective on public service, governance and policy issues.
